Our Mission
Your transaction history is one of the most sensitive things about you. It should live on your device — not on someone else's server, sold to advertisers, or exposed in a data breach.
Most finance apps make money by analyzing and selling your spending data. They know your salary, your debts, and your habits — and they profit from that knowledge. We built Spend Sense to show that a finance app can be genuinely useful without ever seeing your data.
Our Story
Every finance app we tried asked us to connect a bank account or create a cloud account before we could log a single transaction. As engineers who work with sensitive data, we knew exactly what that meant: our spending history sitting on someone else's servers, accessible to employees, exposed to breaches, and sold in aggregate to advertisers.
So we asked a different question: could we build receipt scanning, smart budgets, and real-time analytics entirely on-device, with no server ever involved? Apple's Vision Framework for OCR, on-device SQLite encrypted with AES-256-GCM, and CloudKit end-to-end encryption for optional backup — it turned out the answer was yes.
Spend Sense LLC exists to prove that privacy and utility are not a trade-off.

Built by a small team with a clear goal
We're a small team of iOS engineers and designers who were frustrated by the privacy trade-offs in every finance app we tried. We have backgrounds in mobile security, on-device ML, and financial software — and we're building Spend Sense as the app we actually want to use ourselves.
